OVERVIEW
Susan Steen is a humanist celebrant located in Middle Tennessee that offers a range of services including secular weddings, memorial services, end of life, baby-naming, and invocations. She believes in the responsibility of human beings to lead personal lives of ethical fulfillment that aspires to the greater good of humanity. She wants to offer services that celebrate life without the constraints of a religious belief set.
PROBLEM
Susan has completed her first year of being a humanist celebrant and is looking to expand her business to a wider audience and a larger demographic. Her business, Unvarnished Moments, aims to provide a celebration of raw, unfiltered moments in life. No pretense or superficiality that one might find with religious ceremonies, but an honest and open appreciation of life’s moments presented just as they are, full of inclusivity, simplicity, and emotionally resonant. It is the mission of Unvarnished Moments to go beyond the basic and offer a more thoughtful and personalized ceremony. She wanted a logo, branding , and stationery she can use as a starting point to develop her website, social media presence, and communication to reach a wider audience.
SOLUTION
Susan's logo represents the continuity of life. Reminiscent of an infiniti symbol or the yin and yang symbol it is non denominational, clean, simple, flowing, and the deconstruction of the letter "U" which is the name of her company "Unvarnished Moments." The colors are calming, cool, earthy and natural feeling. The color palette mixed with the logo and fonts invokes a sense of peace, serenity, and connection to the natural world. Her branding symbolizes our connection to this world,: how we come into it, how we connect to others while we are here, and our eventual departure from this earth.
