So iLL Commercial
OVERVIEW

So iLL is a climbing brand company created by the Chancelor Brothers in 2012 in Southern Illinois. This company is known for pushing the creative boundaries around climbing designs and has fundamentally changed the market on what a climbing "hold" can be. They are also best known for their retro inspired shoes in different monochromatic colors.

PROBLEM

This project focused on creating an animated commercial to encapsulate the energy, movement, and uniqueness of this brand. So iLL is one of the first climbing gear companies to focus on the gym climber instead of outdoor climbing. The commercial is a way to demonstrate the power, adventure, and aesthetics for this iconic brand.

SOLUTION
SOLUTION

The strategy for this project was to combine the intersection of fashion, art, and climbing. The main focus is on the gear and products So iLL offers but also with an emphasis on challenging the status quo of what makes someone a "real" climber. This commercial creates a brand identity for So iLL while promoting gym climbing as being just as valid and exciting as outdoor climbing. Their climbing shoes and climbing holds are not just functional, they are pieces of art as well.
